Spanish PM Sanchez Pays Official Visit to Skopje

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez Perez-Castejon paid an official visit to Skopje on Sunday, where he held meetings with Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski and President Stevo Pendarovski. Sanchez was welcomed by Kovacevski in the government, and they held a mutual press conference after the bilateral meeting of the delegations of both governments of North Macedonia and of Spain. Main point of discussion between the two PMs was the start of the EU accession talks for North Macedonia and all processes around it. “I congratulate North Macedonia and Albania on finally unblocking the road towards start of the accession talks with the EU. I am glad that you made the right choice to bring your country there where it belongs. Spain supported you and will continue to do so on your way towards full EU membership. Our countries may be geographically too far apart, but they share the European values and interests,” Sanchez said. PM Kovacevski once again reminded that official Skopje started the EU accession talks with protected and intact Macedonian language and identity, reaffirming the country’s dedication to the European agenda. Later on Sunday, Spanish PM Sanchez was also received by President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski, who told him that Spain has become a very important partner of North Macedonia in the Euro-Atlantic integration processes. Both Pendarovski and Sanchez voiced satisfaction with the good development of the bilateral relations between their countries.
