Historical Commission Reacts to Claims for “Bulgarianisation” of History

The Macedonian team of the Macedonian-Bulgarian Historical Affairs Commission came out with a reaction after the numerous accusations levelled at them from different entities that they have allegedly approved “Bulgarianisation” of historical figures and part of history with their latest decisions and recommendations. “We must point out that the recommendations for the history books changes and those for mutual observation of historical figures are completely different things. Our country will continue to observe historical figures like Ss. Cyril and Methodius, St. Clement and St. Naum of Ohrid as part of Macedonian history, culture and tradition, and the eventual mutual observation of the same with Bulgaria is only a way to show that these figures bear significance of universal character. Not a single sentence or word from the recommendations we presented recently state in any way that these figures are only exclusively Bulgarian,” they react from the Macedonian team of the Macedonian-Bulgarian Historical Affairs Commission.
