Day of Albanian Alphabet Observed in Skopje

Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski attended and addressed the solemn academy that observed the Day of Albanian Alphabet, i.e. 114 years since the 1908 Bitola Congress at which the Albanian alphabet has been adopted. “The act of respect towards other languages and cultures is a characteristic of a European, civilised and progressive way of functioning. Albanian is not my mother tongue, but is the language of my brothers,” PM Kovacevski said. First Deputy PM and Minister of Political System Artan Grubi quoted lines from the Bitola Congress in his greetings for the holiday. DUI Leader Ali Ahmeti said that the events during the Bitola Congress should serve as motivation and example for coexistence between Macedonians and Albanians and other communities living in the country, in order to make it more stable.
