US Sanctions Team Left North Macedonia

The US Embassy in Skopje confirmed for Sitel TV that the Sanctions Team that arrived in Skopje a week ago has left the country. From the Embassy they report that the US Department of State remains dedicated to identifying the politicians and state officials involved in corruptive activities, but reveals no details about the team’s work. In meantime, PM Dimitar Kovacevski said at a press conference that he sees nothing wrong in the activities of the US against corruption in the country. “Any form of help is welcome. Corruption is indeed a great problem, but I also believe that the institutions of the state have sufficient capacities to deal with this problem by themselves,” Kovacevski said. Last week, US Ambassador Angela Aggeler revealed that a US Sanctions Team arrived in the country in order to examine the situation with corruption, for which Aggeler and other ambassador in the country addressed serious criticism against the state.
