Kacarska Opposes Introduction of Ethnicity Graph in Personal Documents

President of the Constitutional Court of North Macedonia Dobrila Kacarska claims that
the initiative of the Justice Ministry for introduction of an ethnicity graph in the
documents for personal identification goes against the Constitution. “The Constitutional
Court decided to initiate by itself procedures against this initiative, but until the service
prepares the case, I cannot make my doubts clear, because after all, the judge preparing
the case may not share my views,” Kacarska said. The initiative for this law-change was
promoted by Justice Minister Krenar Loga, according to whom the inclusion of ethnicity,
i.e. nationality in personal documents would help avoid situation in which citizens tend to
claim to be of a different nationality or ethnicity in order to gain a job position in public
institutions.
