Expectedly, the European Commission’s 2023 Report on North Macedonia sparked accusations between ruling parties and the opposition. Foreign Minister and DUI Vice-President Bujar Osmani said on Wednesday that one of the major problems was that Parliament was blocked and there was no adoption of laws.
As he added, the opposition is blocking Chapters 23 and 24, which concern the fight against corruption, which means the opposition doesn’t fight corruption.
Another major problem, Osmani added, is that parties are divided in Parliament and place party interests above state ones. SDSM, too, said the key problem in the report was that Parliament was blocked by the opposition.
On the other hand, VMRO-DPMNE Spokesperson Marija Miteva said the document reflected reality. As she added, the country is increasingly further from the EU because the government’s “full of crime and corruption”.
