On Thursday, Parliament Speaker Jovan Mitreski met with US Ambassador Angela Aggeler.
They discussed priority activities within Parliament in the period ahead. Ambassador Aggeler congratulated Mitreski on his election as Speaker, wishing him a successful term. As she said, in the US, North Macedonia will always have a friend and a great supporter.
“Speaker Mitreski expressed gratitude for the continued support from the US for North Macedonia regarding both reform processes and the integration path towards full-fledged EU membership. He said citizens of North Macedonia especially appreciated the strategic partnership with the US, which represented a pillar of the strong bilateral cooperation between the two countries,” Parliament said in the press-release.
The Speaker and the Ambassador talked about Parliament’s priorities in the period ahead, that is, until the start of the election campaign, but also highlighted the need for parliamentary dialogue between opposition and majority MPs, which is key to efficient work of the legislative house. Mitreski said Parliament would do intensive work in the period ahead.
