Gashi Says Amendment is Condition for Support for Constitutional Changes

Despite the initially announced support from parties from the ethnic Albanian bloc, Alternative leader Afrim Gashi says his party’s three votes for the constitutional changes are not unconditional. Criticising PM Dimitar Kovacevski and DUI leader Ali Ahmeti, Gashi said they had “killed” the European dream. Alternative’s condition for support for the changes is acceptance of its amendment for fighting corruption, according to which the statute of limitations over such acts does not expire. MPs from the so-called Fire Group of Ali Ahmeti too are pessimistic. Their leader, MP Izet Mexhiti, assesses that though eight MPs may join the majority in Parliament, as many or more are leaving.
