Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani had a telephone conversation with the Cabinet of French President Emmanuel Macron, where he was assured that an unintentional mistake was made in using the adjective for the citizens of North Macedonia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during Osmani’s conversation, the official position of France for full respect of the official name of the country was confirmed, the citizens of North Macedonia, as well as the corresponding adjectives, in a way as they are defined and accepted in the United Nations, in accordance with the Prespa Agreement. The reaction followed a statement by French President Macron at a news conference after the EU summit in Brussels last week when he used the adjective “North Macedonians”.
