Panagiotopoulos: Skopje must stick to Prespa Agreement

The Greek Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos spoke during a debate in the Greek Parliament about the Prespa Agreement and its implementation.  “Ever since the signing of this Agreement, an environment of special legal obligations for both sides was created. New Democracy and PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis pledge for improving the Prespa Agreement so that Greece does not have to face unwanted consequences. We need to establish legal argumentation, in order to prevent Skopje from violating or interpreting frivolously segments of the Agreement,” Panagiotopoulos said. In meantime, several Greek media, citing political analysts as sources, write that the Greek government does not intend to obstruct the integration of Macedonia in NATO and EU, but will demand certain renunciations on behalf of official Skopje. Analysts interpret this position of the Greek government that they will demand very strict respecting of the Prespa Agreement by Macedonia, Greek newspaper Kathimerini writes.
