UN Sec Gen Guterres praises Skopje-Athens name Deal

In his address at the 18^th Doha Forum, UN Sec Gen Antonio Guterres said the Prespa Agreement was an example of peacefully resolving transnational disputes. “The deal between Athens and Skopje is a successful example of transnational efforts to close contentious issues,” he pointed out, adding that it would benefit the whole Balkan region. The UN Sec Gen also called for the international community’s efforts to resolve other open issues in the world causing tensions to be strengthened, too. According to Guterres, successfully resolving disputes like the name issue is a reminder and shows that big things can be achieved benefitting “our peoples” when there is work together.
