According to VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, his party will wait for the stands presented at the leaders’ meeting on Tuesday before commenting on the issue of elections. “Let’s see what the assessments of the Security Council, what the stand of President Stevo Pendarovski will be before we comment at the leaders’ meeting,” he said on Thursday. In Mickoski’s view, though his party will win the elections regardless of when they are held, the citizens’ health is what’s currently most important. The VMRO-DPMNE leader added that he hoped “epidemiologists that should say whether there are health conditions for elections will act like doctors under oath.” The same day, Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska, who’s a member of SDSM, stated that elections would be organised as soon as possible if the coronavirus situation allowed that. As she added, health comes first, whereas everything else is political interest. According to Sekerinska, the leaders’ meeting shouldn’t see dates mentioned because it should instead result in decisions that will benefit the country and the majority of its citizens.
