At Thursday’s joint session of the National European Integration Council and the Committee on European Affairs of Parliament, the European Commission’s Report on North Macedonia was discussed.
The Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador David Geer, citing the document, said much more work was needed regarding judiciary, corruption, and human rights. According to him, there’s no progress in fighting crime, while processes related to high-profile corruption are affected by the Criminal Code changes.
The EU Delegation Head also discussed other issues, including the use of the so-called flag and public administration reform. Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Maricic called on MPs to, as he said, overcome party differences and work for the future of the country. According to the opposition, SDSM should say what the progress is based on.
“This is by far the worst such report ever,” VMRO-DPMNE MP Antonio Milososki said. On the other hand, SDSM MPs said the vision, clear goal, and responsible running of institutions were noted in the document.
