Former PM Zoran Zaev has criticised the annulment of the first-instance verdict in the Target-Fortress case in relation to ex-secret police chief Saso Mijalkov. On his official Facebook page, he asks: “What’s next, Mijalkov becoming the head of the Agency for National Security and Gruevski returning innocent on a white horse?” The annulment was criticised by ex-Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov as well. Deputy PM for Good Governnace Policies Slavica Grkovska, too, has expressed concern. She calls on the Court of Appeals to, “in the name of justice and accountability before citizens”, announce the reasons for the decision. President Pendarovski is “shocked” by the decision. In his view, such decisions undermine the belief of citizens that true reforms are needed with regards to the rule of law and fighting corruption Judicial Council President Lidija Dameva says that on Monday, in the frames of her authorisations, she will take activities right away, while the Council will look into the case and inform the public about the activities.
