VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski claims that the only solution for the current
political situation in the country concerning the initiative for constitutional changes is the
organisation of an early parliamentary election. “We already gave them two proposals for
resolving the situation, and the fact that they do not accept any of them reveals that they
don’t have the necessary majority of at least 80 MPs in the Parliament for the process of
constitutional changes. Our second proposal, which now seems more achievable, is to
organise a snap election this autumn and to demand official guarantees from the EU and
the US that the Macedonian identity and language will not be disputed in any manner
during the EU-integration process. We also proposed a vetting for politicians and state
officials. It is quite unusual that certain politicians enter into politics with nothing in
their pockets, but after couple of years they become millionaires. Best thing is that we do
not need new laws and regulations for that, it only takes political will, so that we can all
finally find out whether and who robbed the citizens for personal profits,” Mickoski said.
