PM Dimitar Kovacevski, commenting on the arrest of Drin Ahmeti, said that the institutions acted in accordance with the laws, like for any other citizen of North Macedonia, and that there is no political influence in the case.
“The Interior Ministry conducted a regular check- up, identifying the person which possessed pyrotechnics. Now the case is being processed by the Public Prosecution, in accordance with all relevant laws,” Kovacevski said.
Drin Ahmeti, nephew of DUI leader Ali Ahmeti, was arrested on 30 December 2023 after police officers found in his car great amount of pyrotechnics, for which he claimed were legally purchased and were gifts for his nephews.
