Osmani Disagrees with Toskovski’s Comments on EU’s Stand on Old Passports

Commenting on caretaker Interior Minister Pance Toskovski’s position about the old passports issue, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani said on Wednesday he disagreed, that is, he explained that the European Commission didn’t make such decisions.

In his view, Toskovski most likely had misunderstood some document.

“That’s misinterpretation. The Commission’s stand is that the Commission doesn’t make a decision applying to the whole EU. This is a sovereign matter of each country. Countries have a practical stand. Each country makes a decision on itself,” the Foreign Minister noted.

So far, only two countries have made an official stand, that is, one from Central Europe and one from the region. On Wednesday, Osmani talked to Greek Ambassador Sophia Philippidou. Greece expects that countries will be patient regarding the old passports over a period of 20-30 days. Osmani asked for greater flexibility.
