Former KLA member Blerim Ramadani, arrested by North Macedonia’s police on the basis of a warrant issued by INTERPOL Serbia, has been issued a 30-day extradition detention measure.
The measure was on Thursday sought by the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organised Crime and Corruption, which had previously received the case from the Ljupco Kocevski-headed Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Serbia expects Ramadani, suspected of war crimes during the 1998-1999 Kosovo War, to be extradited.
On the other hand, Kosovan PM Albin Kurti stressed that his country’s Justice Ministry was communicating with North Macedonia’s Government “in order for us to find out more about the Kosovan citizen detained there” and for there to be no yielding to Serbia’s aggression towards Kosovo, “reflected through the warrants for the arrest of our citizens.”
