Parliament Speaker Gashi Comments on Several Topics

On Tuesday, asked why he’d gone to Kosovo in an official vehicle, Afrim Gashi said he had the obligation to do so as the Parliament Speaker even though he wouldn’t want that to be the case.

“All of us want to have a private life at least a little. I don’t have that at all. Unfortunately, in this case, too, I had to travel in an official vehicle to a private event,” he stated.

As the Speaker explained, his travel to Kosovo had been properly announced, but he couldn’t stop at the passport control point and check passports.

However, Gashi didn’t reveal how many persons had travelled with him in the official vehicles. When it comes to the 1 August incident at the Skopje airport involving Kosovan President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu and the then-head of his security detail, Sabedin Sinani, Gashi stated that he had been called by her and gave instructions that he would head to the airport to calm the situation down and, as a precursor, members of his security detail had been sent.

After they had called and told him the situation had been overcome, according to the Speaker, he decided against going. As far as the issue of constitutional changes is concerned, he stated that he couldn’t say when they could be made.

However, he also stressed that the start of the process was a multilateral matter.
