Selami: Only One of Three Firefighting Aircrafts in Function

Director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue (DPR) informed that they face serious difficulties when intervening over wildfires on terrain, because only one of the three fire-fighting aircrafts the Directorate has is in function.

“One plane needs to be serviced, we repaired the other with mechanics from Spain, but the same problem appeared again. Currently, only one plane is in use, and for the other one, we will see by tomorrow what the condition will be and whether it will be able to fly,” Selami said.

Crisis Management Director (CMC) Stojance Angelov however, said that there was currently no need for other aircraft for the fire in Prilep, because the air tractor was used only as a preventive measure.

From CMC they also informed on Monday evening that over the past 24 hour they detected 12 wildfires on the territory of North Macedonia, of which five remain active, six are under control and one is extinguished.
