In an interview with RFE Macedonian, DUI’s Kreshnik Bekteshi, asked when the key moment would be for DUI to decide to start its protests being announced by it, said, the party was currently holding meetings within all branches and had already opened a debate on how DUI should act.
In that regard, Bekteshi called on the rest of citizens to participate in all ideas and proposals stemming from DUI’s base.
Asked what would be the straw that would break the camel’s back, he stated the new ruling structure had been responsible for so many scandals that all citizens, not just ones representing DUI, were supposed to stage a protest every day outside the Government building.
“Everyone has faced higher living costs. Nothing has worked. Unfortunately, we’ve put ourselves in a situation where even young people die in our hospitals, where they cannot find proper care in our health system,” the DUI member pointed out.
Asked whether that would be a destabilisation attempt, as being interpreted by PM Hristijan Mickoski, Bekteshi stated it was in fact the actions by the PM and VLEN that were leading to destabilisation.
“They want to destabilise themselves. DUI, its leader, Ali Ahmeti, and the party’s Presidency have clearly said our country doesn’t need destabilisation. It needs talks and dialogue where all will be equal in this country,” he underlined.
Regarding the Constitutional Court’s abolition of the Balancer tool, the former Economy Minister stressed that Judges had to pay attention when they made decisions because they might cause tensions through them.
If the equitable representation law is good for all ethnic communities, including the Macedonian one, Bekteshi said, his party will support it. If there are no new elections, DUI will not join the ruling structure, according to him.
