DUI Urges Toskovski to Resign over ‘Unjustified’ Police Intervention

In a press-release on Friday, DUI urged Pance Toskovski to resign as the Interior Minister over the “unjustified and unprecedented police intervention” during the Albanian Flag Day celebrations on Thursday.

“This intervention not only obstructed the peaceful and traditional events of Albanians, but also caused unnecessary tensions and incidents that have violated interethnic harmony in the country. Additionally, we’re today witnessing a selective and biased approach by the organs of order. While the citizens, Albanians, who burned the national flag have been detained and punished, those who burned the Albanian flag have remained unpunished.

This discriminatory and unjust approach is unacceptable and undermines citizen confidence in state institutions, additionally deepening society’s divisions and tensions,” Ali Ahmeti’s party said.
