Criminal Court Approves Precaution Measures against Despotovski

The Criminal Court in Skopje determined precaution measures against former Director of the Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones (TIDZ) Jovan Despotovski.

The Court stripped Despotpovski from his passport, and he is obliged to report his presence in the country to the Court in given intervals of time. This has been decided upon a proposal from the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO), which started an investigation against Despotovski over alleged abuse of official position.

Several media wrote that the investigation is related to alleged fraudulent activities with investments realised in TIDZs in Strumica and in Stip, and that Despotovski was arrested over these suspicions. Despotovski reacted to these claims, denying the information of his alleged arrest.

“It is not true that I have been arrested, and I consider such information about intentional or accidental spread of misinformation about me. I am taking all necessary measures to protect my honour and reputation, and I remain available for the media and all their question, so that we can avoid spreading of false information”, Despotovski said.
