The Criminal Court in Skopje decided not to determine precaution measures against former Director of Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM) Vasko Kovacevski, who is one of the suspects in the Additive case.
“A judge on previous proceedings may act and adopt a resolution for accepting a proposal for measures against a suspect even when they have not provided a statement, only in case a detention measure has been requested, not when only precaution measures are requested”, they explain from the Criminal Court.
Interior Minister Pance Toskovski said Friday that he is rather surprised by this decision of the Criminal Court.
“I really am surprised how the prosecutor did not request measures against a suspect which remains unavailable for the organs of prosecution, or in this case, a former manager of a state institution suspected of financial crime worth more than 6.5 million euros”, Toskovski said.
In meantime, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) issued a reaction to Toskovski’s statement.
“To this moment, PPO had not received a notice that the suspect in question is not available for the organs of prosecution. In the very moment when we receive such notice, the prosecutors will act and will request measures”, they react from PPO.
