President Pardons Seven Persons on Occasion of New Year Holidays

On the occasion of the New Year holidays, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova pardoned seven convicted persons, that is, one in full and six partly.

As the President’s Cabinet explained on Tuesday, the six persons received a three-month reduction of their respective prison sentence, while the former saw his sentence reduced by three months and four days, which resulted in his time behind bars ending completely.

The following day, the President again said a new, modern, law on pardons was needed because, in her view, the current legislation is not systemically set up. She made those comments during a visit to Army members at Jane Sandanski Barracks in Stip, where she said it felt nice that she was the Supreme Commander of a respected Army.

“It is the greatest guarantor of our peace,” she stressed.
