Health Minister Arben Taravari, head of one of the two Alliance for Albanians’ wings, said on Friday he would hold another meeting with PM Hristijan Mickoski most likely on Monday (12 May).
However, the former VLEN co-leader said he would not change his decision for his wing to participate in the local elections on its own, even if that meant leaving the cabinet.
“It’s better for us to have five mayoral positions than two ministerial ones. I expect Mickoski and I to have another meeting next week on the open issues, but I adhere to the stand on own council candidate lists regarding the local elections”, he pointed out.
In the legislative house, the wing’s five MPs have said they are still loyal to Taravari. Parliamentarian Halil Snopce, who’s still officially VLEN’s Parliamentary Group Coordinator, said the five MPs supported every decision the wing’s Central Presidency would make, through consensus.
“Currently, we have a decision only on participating independently with regards to council candidate lists. When it comes to every decision on mayoral races, I am convinced that we will support it again consensually, regardless of personal opinions”, the MP stressed.
When it comes VLEN itself, the matter of Taravari functioning within the cabinet is a closed one, that is, Bilall Kasami stated on Thursday that Taravari’s term as Minister would end in several days.
