Kulakova Case: At Protest, Todor Kulakov Expresses Suspicions of ‘Complete Legal Engineering’

On Wednesday, at a protest in Skopje over 12-year prison sentence against Vasil Jovanov in the case concerning the traffic accident in which Frosina Kulakova was killed, the latter’s father, Todor Kulakov, expressed suspicions over the issue concerning the Supreme Court’s decision.

“Currently, we have strong suspicions that complete legal engineering is underway. Now, the Supreme Court too is being involved, with the institution using a highly suspicious term, returning the Vasil drugs case again before the Appeals Court for sheerly formal reasons. The intention to create legal confusion by playing a game of dates is obvious in this whole game they’re making for us”, he stated.

Several days before the 12-year prison sentence against Jovanov in the case concerning the accident in which Kulakova was killed, the Supreme Court had abolished the 46-month-prison sentence in the drugs case.

Initially, Jovanov had been given a correctional measure that was afterwards changed to the sentence of three years and ten months by the Appellate Court. However, the Supreme Court abolished the Appeals Court’s decision because it was required for the attorney and defendant to be notified of it.
