The Public Health Institute has registered two mpox cases. The patients were sent to the Institute from the Clinic of Skin Diseases on Thursday.
“Because mpox was confirmed in a lab in our country for the first time, immediately after the results had come, there was a quick reaction immediately. Proper measures were taken, while relevant institutions, the Health Ministry, Clinic of Skin Diseases, Clinic of Infectious Diseases, and others, were notified.
According to protocols, after the received notification, the doctor that admitted the patient, notifies patients on the obtained results. That is followed by an epidemiological survey by epidemiologists of the Institute. Experts, epidemiologists, from the Institute have returned to work and started epidemiologically surveying both persons to get data that would be of exceptional importance to further actions.
The survey is still underway. The positive patients will be recommended to report to the Infectious Diseases Clinic”, the Institute said.
Currently, there’s no room for panic, it added.
