Oncology Clinic Case: House Arrest Measure against Vasev and Nuhi

In the Oncology Clinic case, the former medical director, Nino Vasev, and the ex-organisational head, Nehat Nuhi, each have been issued a house arrest measure, citing a danger of fleeing. However, the Criminal Court will also keep their passports that were taken away previously, during the obligation.

The Prosecutor’s Office has appealed the measures, seeking detention for both Vasev and Nuhi.

According to the other charge, that is, the one concerning unscrupulous treatment, which covers Vasev and three other doctors, on 29 patients, the ex-medical director used inadequate method of treatment and severely worsened their health, while two of the doctors gave expensive biological therapy to them at the palliative stage, that is, when there was no chance of it helping them at all.

Regarding the doctors, the Prosecutor’s Office has requested measures of precaution. The Criminal Court is yet to decide whether it will take away their passports. Commenting on the case, VMRO-DPMNE asked why the current SDSM leader Venko Filipce, in the capacity of former Health Minister, hadn’t been covered.

“Why hasn’t Gavril Bubevski, the favourite Prosecutor of SDS[M] and DUI been launching an investigation against Filipce even though Filipce himself, directly or indirectly, allowed systemic chaos and non-compliance with around 60 legal provisions? The consequences of Filipce and SDS[M] in the health sector are disastrous and harmful”, the ruling party said.
