During Monday’s vote which saw Afrim Fidani defeat Besa Ademi, who was running for another term, in the race for Supreme Court President, some Judicial Council members criticised the latter regarding cooperation and other aspects.
“Judge Besa Ademi held the office of Supreme Court President in the past period exceptionally. There are no dilemmas in this regard. She was open to international cooperation. However, there is one part, I think, that she wasn’t sufficiently cooperative, she didn’t cooperate, even though the interest of all, together, of the Supreme Court, the Judicial Council, and even of the executive and legislative power is for all of us to be united”, member Vesna Dameva stated.
Another Council member, Ivica Nikolovski, stated that he hadn’t seen in the frames of Ademi’s engagement a certain proposal or joint debate aiming to find rational decisions to improve the judiciary and make it more efficient.
The session also saw Criminal Court President Ivan Dzolev elected Skopje Court of Appeals Judge. Judges Marija Kletnicka Markovska and Olja Ristova of the Criminal Court, as well as Judge Betim Jahja of the Tetovo Basic Court, too, are joining the Court of Appeals in the capital.
In addition, the Council elected Hadjo Tarik as President of the Krusevo Basic Court. In its report, TV21 said there had been remarks about Tarik because, in the past, he’d been fined because the statute of limitations over a big number of cases he’d worked had expired.
