On Monday, Democratic Union leader Pavle Trajanov submitted a draft-law to make the country a single electoral district.
As he again said, if adopted, the changes proposed by his party will strongly encourage the democratization of the election process and country as a whole. The changes, if adopted, will see every MP backed by the same number of voters.
“We propose for the proportionate model to remain, without an election threshold, while MP seats should be calculated according to the D’Hondt method”, Trajanov noted.
LDP, too, has filed a draft-law.
“We once again highlight the need for a just and transparent electoral model that will ensure equality of votes. We firmly believe this change will bring greater transparency, greater responsibility of elected representatives, as well as a stronger democracy”, it pointed out.
Levica said it would support the single electoral district proposal, saying it had been a commitment of its since 2016.
