PM Mickoski Expects AFET to Adopt Waitz’s Draft-Report 24 June

PM Hristijan Mickoski is optimistic that the MEP and Rapporteur Thomas Waitz’s draft-report will be adopted by the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) on 24 June.

However, as he said on Tuesday, if there is a new delay, that will clearly prove that the essence of the problem lies in the recognition of the Macedonian identity, not in the issue of including Bulgarians in the Constitution.

Asked about accusations from Bulgarian MEPs against North Macedonia and the text, the PM stated that though he had never personally communicated with the Rapporteur, nobody could take away his country’s right to defend its positions everywhere around the world.

“We will continue to fight. I don’t know whether we will succeed, but I do know that we will be in a much better position and leave behind a much better position for generations that will come after us”, Mickoski emphasized.
