Mucunski again Says EU path shouldn’t Be Burdened by ‘Bilateral Issues’

On Wednesday, North Macedonia’s Foreign Ministry, too, issued a press-release on Timco Mucunski’s phone conversation with Bulgarian counterpart Georg Georgiev.

“Minister Georgiev briefed Minister Mucunski on the decision adopted by Bulgaria’s Parliament concerning this country’s progress in the EU accession process. In the conversation, Minister Mucunski reiterated the principled positions of our country related to the EU integration process. At the same time, he highlighted the country’s readiness to further advance cooperation with Bulgaria in the direction of building greater mutual confidence, in the interest of citizens.

‘To that end, we’re ready to continue with active contribution in building confidence founded on principle and mutual respect. As neighbors and NATO allies, the two countries have a joint obligation, oriented towards the future, to continue to develop relations founded on European principles’, Mucunski said.

In that direction, Minister Mucunski again underlined our commitment to the European path, which, as he said, shouldn’t be burdened by bilateral issues,” the institution pointed out.

The Government does committed work on the reform agenda and on meeting the Copenhagen criteria, which should be the only condition for EU membership of the country, Mucunski also pointed out during the conversation.
