Thursday’s session of Kocani Municipality’s Council saw an incident. During a debate on an item concerning intermunicipal cooperation, Council member Aki Akiov first got into an argument with fellow Council member Mirce Stojkov and then tried to physically confront him.
Then, he got a bottle of water and tried to hit Stojkov with it, but when he threw it, the bottle ended up in the face of the local self-government’s unit’s lawyer.
The case was reported to police, while the woman that was hit in the face was taken to the Hospital in Stip for treatment.
Acting Mayor Venko Krstevski condemned the incident, but also, as he said, obstructions in the work of the Municipality. At the session, it was stated that the nightclub fire and the issue of illegal structures had just made the atmosphere in the city more tense.
