President Siljanovska Davkova Describes Hague Summit as Historic

Regarding the NATO Summit in The Hague, on Wednesday, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova described it as historic, adding that all members had demonstrated unity. Also, she said she expected the whole world to have a peaceful period following the Middle East conflicts.

“I presented our positions, highlighting that even though we were a small country, we acted like a credible partner of NATO, unlike many others. We have allocated 2%. The decision has been made to increase it to 5%. We remain committed to the obligation, but attention has to be paid to the country’s financial power. I have highlighted several times that I would like for us to allocate more for science and education, but there are moments when, due to consensus, when one’s in the company with which they share the same principles, they have to respect common decisions”, she noted.

The same day, for Telma, Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski, who’s in The Hague, too, stated that the in the next decade, the country could reach the level of 5% of the GDP when it came to defense investment since 1.5% of that amount would be required to be spent on infrastructure. One of the priorities, he also stated, is procuring air defense.
