400 persons will be temporarily employed to deal with the wildfire situation.
They will be sent to firefighting brigades at a municipal level, the Director of the Protection and Rescue Directorate, Stojance Angelov, said on Monday. First, they will have to undergo training. For the temporary employment period, each will be paid 24,000 denars per month, while those that will prove to be the best will get permanent employment.
Municipalities that have firefighting brigades will carry out the job ad process. Strumica and Kocani, however, are the only two local self-government units that have not applied in the frames of the call.
“These employments will be very important in dealing with wildfires. I call on all young people in good physical shape to apply”, he stated.
The same day, commenting on the decision by Kocani Municipality not to file an application, VMRO-DPMNE levelled fierce criticism at Acting Mayor Venko Krstevski, accusing him of endangering public safety.
However, Krstevski stated that Kocani had applied, adding that he welcomed the measure.
