Interior Ministry Starts Checks of Cair Municipality Documentation

The Interior Ministry has started checks of documentation of Cair Municipality related to potential illegal structures, Minister Pance Toskovski has confirmed.

Activities have also been carried out in relation to Saraj and Aerodrom Municipalities, which will be followed by checks of Kisela Voda’s documents as well. On Wednesday, the Minister stated that it was about activities that were not the result of the matter’s topicality. If irregularities are determined, Toskovski pointed out, facilities will be demolished.

“Certainly, there has to be action against the law. If it’s determined that a building is an illegal structure and poses a danger to the life of citizens, it certainly needs to be demolished. I’m not saying this due to the topic that’s been lately imposed publicly. This is a current activity of the Interior Ministry, in continuity. Unlike before, cases are not placed in drawers”, Minister Toskovski pointed out.

When it comes to the officer who, according to Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska, was not taking action while she was being attacked during the 11 July incident in Cair, Toskovski stated that his institution hadn’t been able to take activities because the Mayor was uncooperative.

When it comes to the other allegations, that is, the ones about threats and attacks towards the Mayor, he is adamant action has been taken.

“The Internal Control Department is acting upon Council member Irena Vitina’s statement that police officers didn’t act. However, unfortunately, the Mayor has for several days not wanted to cooperate with Internal Control and refused to give that statement that’s necessary, crucial in order for us to be able to take all those activities under the competence of Internal Control”, the Interior Minister emphasised.
