Following Tatjana Dimitrovska’s resignation, Parliament’s Committee on Election and Appointment Issues will schedule a competition to elect her successor as President of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC).
The body will hold a session either on Wednesday (30 July) or Thursday (31 July).
Considering the decision to schedule local elections will be made on 8 August, opinions will be sought from both the SCPC and the Constitutional Court about how the process should be carried out. Despite the planned vacation of MPs from 1 to 15 August, Committee members will be at work.
Asked on Tuesday whether the country will be without a head of the SCPC, as well as without an Ombudsperson (considering the process to select Naser Ziber’s successor is underway) during the election period, VMRO-DPMNE MP Nikola Micevski said everyone had deputies.
