On Tuesday, Parliament, with 71 votes in favour, no against, and no abstentions, voted through the no-confidence motion against Prosecutor-General Ljupco Kocevski.
The leader of Levica, the party that had filed the initiative, MP Dimitar Apasiev, stated that Kocevski had significantly contributed to the endangerment of his institution’s impartiality, reputation, and professionalism, as well as to a drop in citizen confidence in it.
The DUI-lead European Front’s representatives said they wouldn’t vote because it was about hidden games.
“Now that you’ve used him as a tool in your hands, now that he’s protected you, I’m referring to VMRO-DPMNE officials, you now don’t need him and will afterwards appoint someone that will be more obedient than him”, MP Rina Ajdari stated.
On the other hand, VLEN’s Saranda Imeri Stafai criticised DUI, stressing that during Ali Ahmeti’s party’s term in power, there had been neither investigations nor justice in a big number of cases.
VMRO-DPMNE had stated prior to the start that Kocevski had wasted his chance. SDSM called on Kocevski not to recognise the motion, stressing that the decision didn’t or didn’t have to produce legal consequences.
