The Criminal Court has accepted the charge against Filip Andov (aka Sokol), former head of the Suto Orizari prison, and seven prison guards and supervisors.
According to the charge, they would unlawfully allow preferential treatment of five high-risk prisoners in terms of furloughs. The investigation was opened in February.
Andov and two officers, as co-offenders, have been charged with abuse of official position and authorisation, while six officers are charged with unscrupulous operation within the service as well. Two people that were being investigated are no longer covered in the process due to a lack of evidence.
Among the aforementioned prisoners is Musa Xhavit, who has a long record. He is also suspected of killing the 50-year-old Army member in July of this year.
