The list of VMRO-DPMNE mayoral candidates will be completed towards the end of August.
On Monday, the ruling party’s leader, PM Hristijan Mickoski stated that there were dilemmas over several people in certain municipalities. However, he is confident that whoever those candidates are, they will win.
Asked whether there would be a cabinet reshuffle considering 1st Deputy PM Izet Mexhiti and Social Policy, Youth, and Demography Minister Fatmir Limani would be VLEN’s mayoral candidates for Cair and Kicevo, respectively, the PM stated that they hadn’t resigned, adding that there was a deputy minister for each minister.
“They haven’t resigned. Sure enough, they will fulfil their obligations at the Ministries, at the departments where they’re Ministers, and be candidates at the same time. This is not happening for the first time. It would happen often in the past, too”, Mickoski noted.
Asked what his stand was on the fact that a big number of independent candidates were forming political parties and whether there could be Electoral Code interventions, Mickoski stated that the Code deadline had expired. The Government, he underlined, respects all decisions by the Constitutional Court.
