On Friday or Saturday, before noon, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi will schedule the local elections.
The first and second round will reportedly be held on 19 October and 2 November, respectively, media have reported.
“The elections will be scheduled on 8 or 9 August. I expect fair and democratic elections, a dignified campaign, political culture, a contest with ideas and vision, and commitment towards citizens”, the Speaker told Sitel on Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, DUI leader Ali Ahmeti stated that MP and People’s Movement leader Skender Rexhepi Zejd would be the European Front’s mayoral candidate for Skopje.
The decision, he added, had been made in a fully united manner, through consultations with leaders of parties comprising the Front.
