Kocani Fire Charge still not Assessed

The Kocani fire charge still hasn’t been assessed. According to the practice highlighted by the Criminal Court, that process may be carried out in September.

The institution, on Monday, pointed to examples of other major cases with over 30 defendants, including Chain, Additive, and 27 April, processes in which there was a three-month period from the moment the charge was filed to the one it was assessed.

Deadlines for part of the defence to file an objection are still underway regarding the nightclub fire. So far, 40 have been filed by charged persons and defenders that three judges are analysing.

“The Court absolutely understands public interest in this procedure, but the legislator has provided for strict deadlines and rights that have to be respected by both parties in the procedure and the Court in order for oversights in the procedures not to happen that may in the future compromise the court process”, the institution explained.
