On Thursday, PM Hristijan Mickoski didn’t rule out the possibility of the new rules of the State Election Commission (SEC) causing election chaos.
If there is a mass situation, the ballot paper may be up to eight meters long and thus discourage citizens from voting. On Friday, the SEC will decide on the guidelines on the number of council seats at municipalities and the City of Skopje, through a majority vote, after which it will be known how long the ballot paper may be.
The PM warned that the Government would have to intervene if the election process failed. When it comes to the names of remaining candidates and carriers of candidate lists for councils of his party, VMRO-DPMNE, Mickoski stated that they would be revealed not later than 5 September.
Asked whether the rumours that it would support the current Mayor of Centar, Goran Gerasimovski, were true the VMRO-DPMNE leader said the truth would very soon surface.
Regarding the judiciary, the PM stated, after the elections, there would be robust action against all who had brought the court-prosecutorial system to a level of confidence of 2%. The procedure to dismiss Ljupco Kocevski as Prosecutor-General will resume, too, he underlined.
When it comes to the approval of the charge against ex-State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) President Tatjana Dimitrovska and the successful no-confidence motion against Judicial Council members and Kocevski, Mickoski said that those issues would be noted in international reports on the country.
