Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi informed that the Parliament will hold two plenary sessions in September, before the start of the campaign for the local election on 29 September 2025.
“There will be two sessions, one on 2 September and one on 12 September, so that we can adopt all the draft-laws and draft-regulations, most of which currently in first reading, which have entered parliamentary procedure concluding with Monday. This is a consensus reached between all coordinators of MP groups in the Parliament. Also, at the session on 12 September, I shall propose the adoption of a Declaration for fair and democratic election, and there will also be MP questions”, Gashi informed.
Commenting on the session held on 16 August at which the Parliament failed to adopt the Changes to the Electoral Code due to the lack of a Badinter majority, PS Gashi said that they had to hold the session amidst the summer break of the Parliament, because otherwise an impression would have been created that the Parliament was not willing and did not try to adopt the law-changes.
