The Criminal Court has sentenced Sulejman Lamalari to two years in prison after he was found guilty over assaulting Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska. Arsovska welcomed the verdict, evaluating it as a great victory of victims of violence, especially women.
“The assailant never showed signs of regret, and throughout the process with his behaviour he continuously ridiculed the judicial authorities and the public. He even tried to turn things around with claims that he has been attacked instead”, Arsovska said. On 11 July 2025, Lamalari assaulted Arsovska while she was recording a video of a building she claims was constructed illegally.
