Reactions to Kamenik Car Service Shop Fire Footage

CCTV footage that has been posted online shows a person wearing a hoodie committing arson, that is, intentionally pouring petrol on vehicles at a car service shop in the place called Kamenik, in Skopje, and then setting them on fire. The huge flame and explosions woke up the residents the night between Monday and Tuesday.

After firefighters had arrived, they had to be evacuated because there was a danger of a bigger fire considering there was most likely petrol in the cars while the tyres were burning too. According to a Pintija resident, Goran Stojanovski, the fire didn’t spread onto the nearby houses thanks to the intervention by firefighters.

Protection and Rescue Directorate Director Stojance Angelov stated on Tuesday that the fire had broken out before 4 am that day and that it had been put out before 6 am.

The same day, during a visit to Jegunovce, PM Hristijan Mickoski said that the footage proved what he’d been saying the previous days about some centres of power domestically and abroad being behind the fires.

“You’ve seen how arson is committed insolently. That’s just another proof of what I’ve said the whole time, that, unfortunately, centres of power exist that are trying to instil fear, panic among citizens before the elections”, he pointed out.

As he also told journalists, they will be able to get the answer as to who benefits from that if they carry out a very brief analysis.
