Another Five Files Submitted to Fund following Kedev’s Claims

Another five files of cardiology patients have been submitted to the Health Insurance Fund with suspicions of unnecessary interventions at private hospitals. The previous eight cases have been considered by the commission formed by the Health Ministry. They will be analysed also by a Medical Chamber team, while foreign experts will voice their stand after the elections.

On Friday, Health Minister Azir Aliu stated that partial information wouldn’t be provided, that is, a final report would be presented on whether there was misuse and, if so, what type.

The activities started following cardiologist Sasko Kedev’s allegations, presented in August that there had been unnecessary open-heart surgeries, that is, ones performed for monetary reasons.

PM Hristijan Mickoski stated that when such comments were made by a world expert, there had to be a background, that is, indications would be looked into in full, while there had to be accountability.

“Everyone who got rich on the back and health of citizens will be held to account”, he noted.
