Skopje Mayoral Candidates Continue to Present Plans for Capital

On Tuesday, SDSM Skopje mayoral candidate Kaja Sukova stated that her programme included a full reform of the system for waste collection in the capital. In that regard, she stated that the Vardariste illegal landfill should again be turned into what it had been before, that is, a reloading station.

“Skopje without illegal landfills. Ultimately, the time has come for us to treat waste as a resource”, she noted.

VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate in the Skopje mayoral race, Orce Gjorgjievski, continued to present parts of his programme too, saying the same day multiple streets and boulevards would be reconstructed. Levica’s Amar Mecinovic stated that public transport and air pollution were the two main problems. When it comes to the former, he said Levica’s idea was for there to be functional public transport and encourage its use exclusively for the city of Skopje.

“We will talk about details later on”, he noted.

As far as the issue of air pollution is concerned, the mayoral candidate stated there were many methods to deal with that.

“We can talk about that in more detail on other occasions”, Mecinovic noted.

The mayoral candidate for the capital endorsed by the Experience for Success coalition, Aleksandar Trajanovski, talked about the issue of branches that constantly fell and were cut down to maintain the greenery in the capital’s City Park.

“The problem is that this stays this way and isn’t processed in any way afterwards. In our programme, we foresee a social measure according to which precisely from this greenery pellets will be produced if the Parks and Greenery PE opens a plant. We can use the same to deepen or advance the anti-pollution measure as well”, he noted.

Skender Rexhepi Zejd, the Skopje mayoral candidate endorsed by the DUI-led National Alliance for Integration, stated that his plan was for a just, digitalised, and green Skopje.
