During a visit to the Clinic of Traumatology, Orthopaedic Diseases, Anaesthesia, Resuscitation, Intensive Care, and Emergency Centre in Skopje on Tuesday, PM Hristijan Mickoski reiterated his stand on the matter of early parliamentary elections.
“I think I’ve been very clear and precise on that matter. I regret that there are still structures within the opposition, DUI, in this case, that, in the absence of real projects and policies, in the absence of a plan for citizens, have no other way to mobilise voters and have again offended them by saying, ‘We will be part of the government and then employ you, give you a tender, business et cetera’.
However, I think that that will not happen, at least when it comes to the way they’re announcing it, while I think they will be unpleasantly surprised by the result that will come at the end of these elections, so I think they will, after the elections, deal with intraparty elections more than with another type of elections”, he underlined.
Asked about the upcoming visit of EC President Ursula von der Leyen, Mickoski stated that he expected the position that full-fledged EU membership remained Macedonia’s strategic goal to be reaffirmed. In that regard, he said his hope was that the EU, too, would deliver in that area.
The PM also noted that during its 25-year EU path, his country had slowly been losing its dignity and face.
“This government no longer intends to do that”, the PM underlined.
Asked about the EC President’s comments on opening AI centres in Macedonia and Serbia, he stated it was a project being pushed by the Stefan Andonovski-headed Digital Transformation Ministry.
